Bringing back the Feminine

Greetings Beautiful Soul,

Welcome to our October newsletter. This month I'm talking about bringing back the qualities of the feminine, and restoring balance to our world.

In this month’s newsletter

Bringing back the Feminine

The Feminine can move through the world differently from the Masculine.

I’m not talking about biological sex, or suggesting that all women are one way and all men another. We all carry both Feminine and Masculine energies within us, and they can show up in very different ways.

For me, the distinction is more about how we move through life.

The Masculine tends to be associated with direction, action, structure, focus and doing. The Feminine with receptivity, intuition, feeling, connection, creativity and being.

Neither is better or worse than the other. We need both.

But I wonder whether many of us, and particularly women, have become so accustomed to doing, organising, achieving and keeping going that some of those more intuitive, receptive parts of ourselves have become harder to hear.

We know how to make things happen. We know how to plan, achieve and keep going. We know how to give.

But how comfortable are we with receiving?

With not knowing?

With allowing something to unfold rather than trying to make it happen?

With trusting what we feel, even when we can't explain it?

And perhaps most importantly — what happens when we stop asking only “What should I do?” and also ask “What feels true for me?”

Perhaps part of the reason this can feel so difficult is what we have learned to value.

From an early age — and perhaps even through our ancestral patterns — many of us have absorbed the message that strength, achievement and independence are valued, while sensitivity, vulnerability and receptivity can be seen as weakness.

We apologise for our tears, even when those tears are simply the body's way of releasing old pain.

We learn to hide our sensitivity. We become uncomfortable with receiving.

And many women have learned that being more directive, more competitive, less emotional and relentlessly focused on achievement is what it takes to be taken seriously, particularly in the corporate world.

And I wonder whether these patterns are doing more than limiting individual women. What happens when qualities such as nurturing, connection, receptivity, creativity and compassion are continually pushed aside in favour of productivity, achievement and control?

It feels to me as though we are slowly pulling some of the bold, beautiful colour of the tapestry of our lives.

And what is left?

Black, white and grey.

A world that can become increasingly focused on winning and losing, doing and achieving, producing and consuming — while the richer colours of connection, creativity, intuition, compassion and belonging become harder to see.

The Feminine isn't weak.

It isn't something we need to outgrow in order to be successful. It is something we need to be whole.

Reconnecting with the Feminine isn't about rejecting the Masculine. It's about listening to our inner knowing and allowing some of those quieter, intuitive qualities to have a voice too. It's about knowing when to act and when to listen. When to lead and when to collaborate. When to push forward and when to allow. When to give — and when to receive.

And perhaps one of the most powerful things we can do is to stop seeing other women as competition.

What might happen if we truly backed ourselves?

And what might happen if we backed each other?

If we celebrated another woman's success without comparing it to our own. If we could be vulnerable without feeling that it made us less powerful. If we could reach out and ask for help, knowing that receiving is not weakness. If we could stand beside another woman and say, I see you. I believe in you. I'm with you.

Imagine what might happen when women help each other bring those colours back.

BRINGING BACK THE COLOURS

Back yourself. Trust yourself. Reconnect with what makes you feel alive.

A retreat for women to pause, reconnect and back themselves

This is something I have been thinking about a lot lately.

How to create a space where women can come together, step away from the noise and expectations of everyday life, and explore what it means to truly back themselves — and each other.

My colleague Carla Gilmour and I are looking at the possibility of creating a retreat around this theme: women supporting women, reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that may have become muted, and discovering what becomes possible when we truly back ourselves.

It’s still just an idea at this stage.

What might become possible if you backed yourself a little more?

We’re currently exploring locations and dates between January and April 2027. If this idea speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you as we shape what the retreat could become. Please send me an email or a text letting me know your interest and thoughts: carolinepanesar@xtra.co.nz, or 021 0774807.

Regulate

Weekly nervous-system reset practice

Saturday 7 Nov - 5 Dec (drop in sessions) | 9.30am - 10am | 37 Leo Street, Glen Eden

Your nervous system doesn't learn regulation because someone tells you about it. It learns through repetition.

The research on regulated breathing supports the value of repeated practice rather than one-off exposure.

You don't want to learn these tools for the first time when the shit hits the fan. Come and practise them while you're okay, so they're there when you need them.

Drop in whenever you can. No experience or booking necessary.

Each week we'll explore simple ways to notice what's happening in your body and practice shifting your nervous system towards greater ease — through breath, body awareness, movement, grounding and other practical tools.

No need to book - just show up. And feel free to bring your loved ones, too.

Until next time, with all my love,

Caroline
